TARRA Queenscliff Shines at the 2025 Golden Plate Awards

We’re incredibly proud to share some exciting news from this year’s Golden Plate State Awards — a celebration of excellence within Victoria’s vibrant food and dining scene. In 2025, TARRA Queenscliff stood in outstanding company and came away recognised across multiple major categories, marking a milestone moment for our team and restaurant.

This year, TARRA was awarded Best Value Dining, alongside Highly Commended achievements for both Best Relaxed Dining and Best Local Food Menu. These honours reflect who we are at our core — a venue that celebrates the region’s exceptional produce, champions seasonal flavours, and brings people together over quality food and uplifting hospitality.

Behind every plate, every shared moment, and every guest experience is a passionate team. From the dedication of our front-of-house staff to the craft and consistency of our kitchen, these awards represent the collective effort of many hands and hearts. A Special Honour — Executive Chef Mike Jaques named Best Chef

Another moment worth celebrating — and one we’re especially thrilled to share — is the recognition of our Executive Chef, Mike Jaques, who was awarded Best Chef Winner at the 2025 Golden Plate Awards.

Mike’s leadership and creativity shape the TARRA experience daily, with menus that honour local producers, coastal elements, and refined yet honest flavours. His ability to bring storytelling to the plate is one of the reasons TARRA holds a special place in the Bellarine dining landscape.

This award celebrates Mike’s talent, but also his philosophy: cooking with intention, highlighting provenance, and creating food that feels connected to place.

A Cut Above brings together everything you love about steak night — the rich, smoky flavours, the generous cuts, the sides you always reach for — but elevated with seasonal ingredients, precise technique, and a touch of flair.

This four-course dinner is all about celebrating quality beef and everything that makes it shine. Expect a relaxed but polished menu, where shared steak takes centre stage and the supporting cast of sauces, salads, and seasonal elements is just as considered.

Chef Mike Jaques brings his signature approach — thoughtful, grounded, and produce-driven — to a night designed for those who appreciate the details, but don’t need the white tablecloth.

With matched wines and sweeping bay views, A Cut Above is an invitation to slow down, dig in, and enjoy the simple pleasure of steak done right.

Perfect Pairings by Oakdene
Elevate your night for just an extra $30 with a curated wine menu from Oakdene — the boutique, family-run Bellarine vineyard that coaxes serious character from the peninsula’s cool sea air. Each course lands with its perfect partner: a zingy Matilda Blanc de Noirs against beef-fat toast, the fresh Ly Ly Pinot Gris to lift our garden-driven starter, velvet-lined Bernard’s Cabernets sidling up to your trio of steaks, and a fragrant Late-Harvest Riesling to see the shortcake home. Meticulous rather than mandatory, this pairing turns a great dinner into one that lingers long after the last bite.

Duration

Approximately 3 hours, commencing at 6.30pm

Bookings are essential

We require all Dinner series bookings to be made at least 72 hours in advance of the scheduled sitting. Subject to availability.

Dietary requirements

The Dinner series is a set menu with limited modifications available. We can cater for the following dietary requirements:

- Vegetarian

- Pescatarian

- Gluten free

Please notify our team at least 72 hours prior if you have the above dietary requirements and we will tailor your menu.

Terms and conditions

Change of date – outside 72 hours changes can be made to another date, but is subject to availability, and must be redeemed within 12 months of purchase.

Cancellation/refunds – 100% refund with at least 7 days notice. Inside 7 days 100% cancellation fee/ non-refundable.

Tarra Queenscliff reserves the right to cancel the event and will offer an alternative date or 100% refund.
