TARRA Queenscliff Shines at the 2025 Golden Plate Awards

We’re incredibly proud to share some exciting news from this year’s Golden Plate State Awards — a celebration of excellence within Victoria’s vibrant food and dining scene. In 2025, TARRA Queenscliff stood in outstanding company and came away recognised across multiple major categories, marking a milestone moment for our team and restaurant.

This year, TARRA was awarded Best Value Dining, alongside Highly Commended achievements for both Best Relaxed Dining and Best Local Food Menu. These honours reflect who we are at our core — a venue that celebrates the region’s exceptional produce, champions seasonal flavours, and brings people together over quality food and uplifting hospitality.

Behind every plate, every shared moment, and every guest experience is a passionate team. From the dedication of our front-of-house staff to the craft and consistency of our kitchen, these awards represent the collective effort of many hands and hearts. We are grateful to every team member who plays a role in making TARRA what it is.

A Special Honour — Executive Chef Mike Jaques named Best Chef

Another moment worth celebrating — and one we’re especially thrilled to share — is the recognition of our Executive Chef, Mike Jaques, who was awarded Best Chef Winner at the 2025 Golden Plate Awards.

Mike’s leadership and creativity shape the TARRA experience daily, with menus that honour local producers, coastal elements, and refined yet honest flavours. His ability to bring storytelling to the plate is one of the reasons TARRA holds a special place in the Bellarine dining landscape.

This award celebrates Mike’s talent, but also his philosophy: cooking with intention, highlighting provenance, and creating food that feels connected to place.

Step off the beaten track and into a dining experience inspired by the wilder side of the table. Into the Wild celebrates bold, rustic ingredients — game meats, earthy vegetables, and rich, foraged flavours — reimagined through modern technique.

The menu, crafted by Executive Chef Mike Jaques, journeys through the likes of slow-cooked duck with quince and hazelnut, and venison paired with beetroot and garlic. Sides are generous and full of texture — from wood sorrel-dusted Kipfler potatoes to charred cabbage with burnt cream. Dessert brings a nostalgic nod to the Black Forest, elevated with brandy ice cream and dark chocolate mousse.

Set against the backdrop of Port Phillip Bay, this is a dinner for those who like their food full of depth, flavour, and story. Come hungry, leave changed.

Duration

Approximately 3 hours, commencing at 6.30pm

Bookings are essential

We require all Dinner series bookings to be made at least 72 hours in advance of the scheduled sitting. Subject to availability.

Dietary requirements

The Dinner series is a set menu with limited modifications available. We can cater for the following dietary requirements:

- Vegetarian

- Pescatarian

- Gluten free

Please notify our team at least 72 hours prior if you have the above dietary requirements and we will tailor your menu.

Terms and conditions

Change of date – outside 72 hours changes can be made to another date, but is subject to availability, and must be redeemed within 12 months of purchase.

Cancellation/refunds – 100% refund with at least 7 days notice. Inside 7 days 100% cancellation fee/ non-refundable.

Tarra Queenscliff reserves the right to cancel the event and will offer an alternative date or 100% refund.
